## 📖Bible Passage
>[!NOTE]+ [[Ps-106#v2|Psalm 106.2]]
>Who can utter the mighty acts of Yahweh, or fully declare all his praise?
## Points
- **Who can utter the mighty acts of Yahweh, or fully declare all his praise?**
- These are rhetorical **questions** and also a **challenge** to us. They are an **exclamation** of the greatness of God.
- But all the universe declares the glory of God and praises Him.
- [[Ps-19#v1|Psalm 19:1-4]] ==The heavens declare the glory of God.== The expanse shows his handiwork. Day after day they pour out speech, and night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard. Their voice has gone out through all the earth, their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun, [[Ps-19#v2|]][[Ps-19#v3|]][[Ps-19#v4|]]
- All the advanced scientific research of the universe declares the glory of God. It shows clearly that we have barely begun to scratch the full majesty of God and His creation.
- [[Ps-96#v11|Psalm 96:11-12]] Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice. Let the sea roar, and its fullness! Let the field and all that is in it exult! Then all the trees of the woods shall sing for joy [[Ps-96#v12|]]
- The [[angels]] utter the mighty acts of God!
- [[Isa-06#v2|Isaiah 6:2-3]] Above him stood the seraphim. Each one had six wings. With two he covered his face. With two he covered his feet. With two he flew. One called to another, and said, "Holy, holy, holy, is Yahweh Sabaoth! The whole earth is full of his glory!" [[Isa-06#v3|]]
- The seraphim means the **burning ones**
- These seraphim angels are not from earth.
- The seraphim are absolutely amazed, filled with awe and wonder at God and His majesty.
- [[Luke-02#v10|Luke 2:10-14]] The angel said to them, "Don't be afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy[^1] which will be to all the people. For there is born to you today, in David's city, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding trough." Suddenly, ==there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men."== [[Luke-02#v11|]][[Luke-02#v12|]][[Luke-02#v13|]][[Luke-02#v14|]]
- Scripture teaches that all humanity should praise the Lord
- [[Ps-95#v1|Psalm 95:1-6]] Oh come, let's sing to Yahweh. Let's shout aloud to the rock of our salvation! Let's come before his presence with thanksgiving. Let's extol him with songs! For Yahweh is a great God, a great King above all gods. In his hand are the deep places of the earth. The heights of the mountains are also his. The sea is his, and he made it. His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let's worship and bow down. Let's kneel before Yahweh, our Maker, [[Ps-95#v2|]][[Ps-95#v3|]][[Ps-95#v4|]][[Ps-95#v5|]][[Ps-95#v6|]]
- [[Ps-111#v1|Psalm 111:1-2]] Praise Yah! I will give thanks to Yahweh with my whole heart, in the council of the upright, and in the congregation. Yahweh's [[works]] are great, pondered by all those who delight in them. [[Ps-111#v2|]]
- [[Ps-150#v6|Psalm 150.6]] Let everything that has breath praise Yah! Praise Yah!
- All mankind should praise the Lord, without exception. Salvation is not only for the Jew but for all the world.
- Talking about the things of God and the Bible should simply be a part of our regular daily conversation. We should talk about the mighty acts of the God who created us!
- [[Ps-08#v1|Psalm 8:1-4]] Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens! ==From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength==, because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger. When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have ordained; what is man, that you think of him? What is the son of man, that you care for him? [[Ps-08#v2|]][[Ps-08#v3|]][[Ps-08#v4|]]
- Even babies and nursing infants can praise God! Even the smallest wimper of a child can be used by God to utterly silence the enemies.
- Even the beasts of the field can utter the mighty acts of God
- [[Ps-147#v9|Psalm 147.9]] He provides food for the livestock, and for the young ravens when they call.
- The very sound of a bird should remind us that God provides for his creation.
- [[Luke-19#v37|Luke 19:37-40]] As he was now getting near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, ==the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works which they had seen==, saying, "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest!" Some of the Pharisees from the multitude said to him, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!" He answered them, "==I tell you that if these were silent, the stones would cry out.==" [[Luke-19#v38|]][[Luke-19#v39|]][[Luke-19#v40|]]
- All of creation can, will, and must praise the Lord.
- This verse is also a **challenge**. *Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord*
- Here are responses to that challenge:
- **[[Exod-03|Exodus 3]]**: Moses is called by God from the burning bush. God challenges Moses to **utter the mighty acts of the Lord** but repeatedly Moses refuses this challenge.
- ❓: Who can speak the mighty acts of the Lord? **You** can.
- **Isaiah 6**: God calls Isaiah in a vision to utter the mighty acts of the Lord, but Isaiah rejects this call because he has unclean lips.
- [[Isa-06#v5|Isaiah 6:5-8]] Then I said, "==Woe is me! For I am undone, because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell among a people of unclean lips: for my eyes have seen the King, Yahweh of Armies!==" Then one of the seraphim flew to me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar. He touched my mouth with it, and said, "Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away, and your sin forgiven." I heard the Lord's voice, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am. Send me!" [[Isa-06#v6|]][[Isa-06#v7|]][[Isa-06#v8|]]
- Isaiah immediately knows that he is not worthy to serve God or even be in His presence. But God cleanses Isaiah and **this wipes away every one of Isaiah's objections**
- This verse is also an **exclamation**, *who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord*:
- Even the best praise that a man can lift to God is so beneath the task that it cannot even be a beginning. God simply surpasses all praise.
- **All the works of our God are perfect. They cannot be improved in any way.**
- The best way to praise God is to admit our utter inability to praise Him. Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? Words fail. Human language is simply inadequate to express the quantity, majesty and awe of God. We have not even begun to mine the things of God, and there is so much more to learn and know. Worse yet, we are sinners, unable to see Him fully because of our blindness and hardened heart.
- The best that we can do is simply repeat the question *who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord*. By doing so we acknowledge our inadequacy, and God's utter majesty.
