Daniel Lyons' Notes

orthogonal design

This is a design philosophy whereby many systems are designed to be orthogonal or independent of one another. For example, instead of a sports car, a sedan, and a truck, you could have a car, a boat, and a plane. All of these are vehicles, but they are completely different categories. No modification on a car will become a boat.
