Daniel Lyons' Notes

Why It's Hard To Keep Commitments

  • The World is increasingly complex

    • There is simply too much information for us to keep track of.
  • God didn't design our brains for holding so many commitments at once

  • thorns and thistles: The curse on creation

  • Therefore: You need a system to keep track of your commitments

    • Why should Christians care about organizing their commitments?
      • Because God is an orderly God and we should be an orderly people.
      • We should want to be faithful stewards of God's gifts.
        • 1 Corinthians 4.2 Here, moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.
      • We should want to be faithful servants to each other.
        • Matthew 20.26 It shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you shall be your servant.
        • We should remember and fulfill our commitments to each other. It's how we show love and care to each other.
      • We want to be a people of our word.
