Daniel Lyons' Notes

distinct communion

John Owens teaches that because each member of The Trinity is distinct, then we have the ability distinctly commune with each one. Owens clarified that distinct communion does not mean exclusive communion.

Evidence

While all three members of the Trinity are God, they are in fact distinct from each other as we can see below. This does not make any Person of God to be lesser or greater. It does not make any of Them less God. They are all God.

John 14.23 Jesus answered him, "If a man loves me, he will keep my word. My Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our home with him.

1 Corinthians 1.9 God is faithful, through whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6 Now there are various kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are various kinds of service, and the same Lord. There are various kinds of workings, but the same God, who works all things in all.

2 Corinthians 13.14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, God's love, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

1 John 1.3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us. Yes, and our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ.

1 John 5.7 For there are three who testify:

Revelation 3.20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, then I will come in to him, and will dine with him, and he with me.
