Daniel Lyons' Notes

finitude

You are finite. You are not God. You can't do everything. That's God's job.

  • Genesis 2.7 Yahweh God formed man from the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.
  • Genesis 3.19 You will eat bread by the sweat of your face until you return to the ground, for you were taken out of it. For you are dust, and you shall return to dust."
  • Psalm 103.14 For he knows how we are made. He remembers that we are dust.
    • God knows who you are. He knows that you are limited and He has compassion on you and your limitations.
  • Ecclesiastes is constantly talking about our finitude with the concept of hevel.
  • James 4.14 Whereas you don't know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
