The New Testament identifies everyone who trusts

  • 04:10: Galatians 3:7-9 Know therefore that those who are of faith are children of Abraham. The Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the Good News beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you all the nations will be blessed." So then, those who are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.
    • Paul is quoting Genesis 12.3: I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who treats you with contempt. All the families of the earth will be blessed through you."
    • Reiterated in:
      • Genesis 26:4-5 I will multiply your offspring as the stars of the sky, and will give all these lands to your offspring. In your offspring all the nations of the earth will be blessed, because Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my requirements, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws."
      • Genesis 28.14 Your offspring will be as the dust of the earth, and you will spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to the south. In you and in your offspring, all the families of the earth will be blessed.
      • Said by Balaam a pagan prophet used by God: Numbers 24.9 He couched, he lay down as a lion, as a lioness; who shall rouse him up? Everyone who blesses you is blessed. Everyone who curses you is cursed."
      • Psalm 105:8-10 He has remembered his covenant forever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations, the covenant which he made with Abraham, his oath to Isaac, and confirmed it to Jacob for a statute; to Israel for an everlasting covenant,
  • 05:58: The new testament teaches that all these promises are fulfilled in Christ
    • 2 Corinthians 1.20 For however many are the promises of God, in him is the "Yes." Therefore also through him is the "Amen", to the glory of God through us.
    • Gentiles who believe in Jesus are grafted into this.
    • Paul uses the analogy of an olive tree in Romans 9 through 11.
      • Romans 9:6-8 But it is not as though the word of God has come to nothing. For they are not all Israel that are of Israel. Neither, because they are Abraham's offspring, are they all children. But, "your offspring will be accounted as from Isaac." That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are counted as heirs.
      • Romans 11:17-18 But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive, were grafted in among them and became partaker with them of the root and of the richness of the olive tree, don't boast over the branches. But if you boast, it is not you who support the root, but the root supports you.
        • 08:16: This is not a replacement theology. This is not one tree being replaced by another tree. This is one tree. Some of the branches are broken off and some branches from another tree are grafted in.
  • 09:19: The entity being given a promise in Genesis 12:3 is ontologically distinct from the modern state of Israel.
