Salvation is more than a moment

Why a helmet? Why is salvation linked to the head?
- Isaiah 59.17 He put on righteousness as a breastplate, and a helmet of salvation on his head. He put on garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a mantle.
- We need the helmet of salvation, not the helmet of information
- if you’re spending more time defending your favorite podcaster rather than the Gospel the. You are resting in the helmet of information
- Information is not salvation. It is helpful, but without discernment, we cannot find the truth.
- We don’t use the world to interpret scripture, we use scripture to interpret the world.

Take the helmet
- We take the helmet.
- We don’t earn it
- We don’t make it.
- God offers us the helmet of salvation but it is up to us to receive it.
Preach the gospel to your own mind
- Psalm 45: Why are you downcast o my soul?
- Our culture says listen to our heart, but the Bible says to speak to your heart.
- Psalm 103.1 Praise1 Yahweh, my soul! All that is within me, praise his holy name!
reject condemnation immediately
- 2 Corinthians 10.5 throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,
anchor hope in eternity
- Colossians 3.2 Set your mind on the things that are above, not on the things that are on the earth.
- in God we find hope. But this world is without hope because they trust in the fleeting things of this world.
Jesus is the crown of thorns and the helmet of salvation
- Matthew 27.29 They braided a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and they kneeled down before him and mocked him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"
